Plant Based Snacks Ft Daiya “Cheese” Slices

Hello September!

I am a lover of all the seasons, but fall is my far my favorite. I just love the crisp weather, sweaters, jackets, scarves, pumpkins and most of all the changing leaves. I always find that no matter is going in my life at the time, it feels like a new start. For so many, this time of year means back to school, back to work, a new job, a new city – it is really across the board a time of change. Change can be exciting! This is the season where things tend to pick up a work, school starts again and motivation is high to get back into the swing of things after the relaxing vibes of summer. I have been there and I am feeling it too!

Earlier this summer, I shared my favorite plant based poolside treats, and in keeping with that theme, I am sharing a fall edition of plant based snacks aka after work/school snacks using Daiya Foods “cheese” Slices. All of these are plant based / dairy free options! Daiya Slices are my FAVE alternative and they are also gluten free, soy free and still a good source of calcium. I personally love snacking on these slices plain – especially the Smoked Gouda and Cheddar flavors. I love the texture and the taste. I have been enjoying this brand for years and they have recently improved the texture and taste of their cheese alternatives! They melt so well and are so similar to the real thing! It has so much fun to create some snacks with these that I enjoy and I know you will too.

Cheeseless Cheese Plate:

Have you ever had a cheeseless cheese plate? Well if you are plant based or want to explore some fun alternatives, I would highly recommend this one! Trust me, its delish! This snack plate is super simple and comes together in a few minutes and is so satisfying. First, cut up a few slices of Daiya Foods Cheddar Style Slices and Smoked Gouda Style Slices. Place them on the plate with a sliced apple sprinkled with cinnamon (or pumpkin spice if you are into that!) and some mixed nuts. Honeycrisp and Grannysmith are my fave apples because they also go so well with a Daiya Slice on top! This plate is also something you can easily pack into a tuppy and take it on the go for a school / work snack.

Mini Avocado Toasts with
Melted “Cheese”:

I grew up LOVING grilled cheese and we enjoyed it as an after school snack all the time. I wanted to create a plant based, healthier and more fun version of that for this post! I am calling these mini avocado toasts with melted “cheese”! These were so easy and fast to make. All I did was cut sprouted wheat bread into little squares, melt Daiya Slices on top for 30 seconds in the microwave and top them with mini avocado cubes! Melty “cheese” on bread with avocado is such a winner and these make the cutest (and satisfying) little snacks. I think everyone, including kids and adults will love this combo. If you want to get fancy, you top with some sea salt and chili flakes. It is absolutely delicious!

I hope you enjoy making these plant based snacks and give the slices a try! Wishing everyone an easy transition into the new season.
