This was my favorite part of Shabbat dinner. It is definitely not healthy, but worth every bite! This recipe makes a lot of dough so feel free to section it out and freeze some for coming weeks.
Ingredients:
Directions:
Mix ingredients by hand in a large bowl in the order listed above. Knead for 10 minutes.
Once dough is formed, add to a large bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise on the counter (away from any cold draft from windows) until it is doubled in size. This takes approx 1 hour.
Punch down dough again by removing it from the bowl. Shape into loaves. (option to braid, put in a bread pan etc). Cover again and let it rise for 45 minutes.
Brush the top of the dough with the egg yolk wash.
Prepare streusel topping according to the instructions below. Generously cover with streusel topping and pat down gently. Drizzle honey over top.
Bake on 350 for 30-35 minutes.
Mix flour and sugar together in a food processor. Then add softened butter / margarine in CHUNKS. Pulse until a course crumble forms. Do not over process.
