Wild Alaska Smoked Salmon Tartines

Smoked salmon tartines

Happy December everyone! It is officially the holiday season! That means lots of entertaining, get togethers, and of course, delicious food. These Wild Alaska Smoked Salmon Tartines make a delicious appetizer, brunch side, or even main event. The mix of avocado and tzatziki with the salmon is amazing and such a simple combination. It takes no time to make and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Smoked salmon is one of my favorite types of salmon! There are just so many ways to enjoy it. It also reminds of weekends as a kid because we always had it with bagels and cream cheese. I honestly still love that! These tartines are like a gourmet version of that classic. I love a good hearty, seedy bread as the base, but you can swap out bread for crackers, flatbreads or even cucumbers. Really - whatever you love!

When it comes to smoked salmon (and all salmon), I truly care a lot about quality. I always purchase smoked salmon sourced from Alaska. I trust that it is very high quality and sourced in a sustainable manner. Alaska has a strong focus on sustainability with their seafood and I believe that is very important. Alaska is particularly known for their wild salmon so it is something I look for at the grocery store. It will be clear on the label that it is sourced from Alaska and I encourage you to keep an eye out for that. Approximately 90-95 percent of wild salmon harvested in the US is sourced from Alaska. That is a lot and I trust that the best salmon comes from there!

There are a bunch of smoked salmon varieties, but for this recipe I used Cold Smoked Sockeye! So rich in flavor and a great texture. It is a great thing to add to any type of meal too! I love it in salads, frittatas and sandwiches.
